People of Dripos: Jack Pawlik
Welcome to our new column, People of Dripos. This column will explore the team behind the tech. We’ll be starting with our CEO and Founder, Jack Pawlik.
Please introduce yourself!
My name is Jack! I've spent the last 10 years building and founding companies in the hospitality tech landscape. I was part of an early team that built a food delivery platform in 2015, getting involved while still a student at the University of Wisconsin. It was a crash course in startups, but I fell in love with the process of building a product people enjoyed in the real world. That delivery startup was ultimately acquired, and from there, I co-founded a ticketing startup with a few of my close friends. I helped run that company for a bit before taking a back seat to get into the first version of Dripos. In the early days, I spent most of my time bootstrapping the company while working behind the counter at many of our first partnered coffee shops, sometimes even sleeping in my car to reach new customers. Nowadays, we are backed by some of the best investors in the world and have the privilege of working with an incredible team to build Dripos into the best possible platform for coffee shops.
Most of the Dripos team is based in NYC, where I also live with my fiancé, Pia, and our 2-year-old adopted dog, Remy! We are big foodies and love finding new restaurants to try out. Our closest Thai restaurant is probably personally funded by how much takeout we order. Outdoor hobbies are my favorite! I'm an avid snowboarder and try to take at least one trip every winter. You can frequently catch me at the bouldering gym in the Lower East Side.
What is your go-to coffee order?
My order is simple! Either an iced americano or an almond milk cortado. I also love a big cup of drip coffee in a chunky ceramic mug.
What is your go-to coffee shop?
C&B - the best bakery in East Village. Highly recommend their tomato focaccia.
What is your role at Dripos? and what is your favorite part of your role?
As CEO, I get to wear many hats at Dripos. But the best part of my job is, and always will be, the sense of pride in building a product that is genuinely good. Hearing from customers that we've solved a painful problem or have improved their life is the best feeling in the world.
What do you enjoy most and least about working at a tech start up?
Most: Challenging yourself every day to solve really difficult problems.
Least: Nothing!
Can you describe a specific achievement at Dripos you are most proud of?
Crossing 1,000 live coffee shops powered by Dripos! Excited to continue on our path to 10,000.
What are you most excited to build, solve, or see come to life at Dripos this year?
We have so many amazing product enhancements coming this year, with an overall focus on all of our existing functionality. Expect to see existing workflows get even better and UI improvements everywhere.
Where do you see Dripos in 10 years?
It’s hard to predict what the world will look like in 10 years or what the needs of coffee operators will be, but we hope to still be doing our best to listen to all the amazing customers we get to work with and continue building their dream platform.
